IFS was founded on the idea that if it’s made of metal, we can make it. That attitude has helped us create long lasting relationships with our customers, both at home in Minnesota, and all across the world.

1984

Ken Wilmes, Steve Lueck, Ken Boomgarden, Tim Stokes, Duane Boomgarden, Dan Dunn and Duane Liebl founded Industrial Fabrication Services, Incorporated along with a group of private investors.

After several years of profitable operation, IFS begins to expand its workforce by adding more shop personnel.

1997

2008

Expansion completed.  Main building is 150' x 400' including a 60' x 40' office space and remodeled offices for the drafting department.  Also acquired is a 50' x 90' storage shed on the property which now spreads out over 8 acres in the industrial park.

2009

To show off the expanded facilities and to celebrate 25 years of successful business, an open house was held in August for the many families and friends of IFS.

2013

We expanded once again. This time we added a 100' x 150' section for indoor paint drying and new CNC equipment.

2015

A 6' x 12' waterjet cutting table was added to our arsenal.  This machine is capable of cutting wood, metal, rubber & plastic up to 9'' thick.

2016

Additional machining equipment was added including a Haas VF4 CNC Vertical Milling Center.  By machining more of our own parts instead of outsourcing, we have more control over cost, schedules and designs.

2017

In order to keep our talented fabricators & welders more productive, we added a Peddinghaus XDM-630 Beamline. Workflow has been revolutionized by this machine!  It can mill, drill, tap threaded holes and saw structural members like beams, channels, tubes and bars.  The parts come off the machine ready to weld in a matter of minutes.  Larger jobs can move through the shop faster than ever before with the help of this machine.

2022

As IFS has grown, we have seen a need to become more streamlined in our processes. One of the main bottlenecks was resolved by relocating all but 3 major pieces of equipment in the shop.

2023

To constantly add value for our customers, IFS added a Trumpf 3040 Plate Laser with auto loading capabilities. This machine produces finer, more detailed cuts, in a fraction of the time our waterjet is able to achieve.

In the beginning of 2023, IFS added a Trumpf 3000 Tube Laser to the production floor. This machine allows us to decrease production time of much needed structural parts used in all processes. It also allows us to take advantage of tabbing & indexing, saving time on the shop floor.

About the same time, IFS upgraded the internal ERP system to help track order status, project costs, and inventory control.

To keep up with all other updates, a new Koike Aronson 8' x 24' Plasma Table with an articulating head was purchased. This machine helps to save steps in processing in beveling sheets. Also, it uses 25% less power than the previous table which is alleviating overhead costs.

IFS employs over 100+ employees in 2023.
